EGET Foundation met with members of the press at the Muğla Yücelen Hotel on its 10th anniversary. Founded in Muğla on July 25, 2015, by Safaî Özer and Özlem Uzman, the EGET Foundation has undertaken significant projects in many areas, from education to nature, over the past 10 years. Özlem Uzman stated that through BUSED, a scholarship program that is a first in Turkey and gives equal opportunities to every student, scholarships have been provided to 245 students out of 39,960 applications to date.
Income from Production Becomes Scholarships
Uzman also mentioned that thanks to the Armutçuk Organic Farming Enterprise established in Muğla, Turkey's largest truffle mushroom plantation and one of its first lavender fields have been created. He emphasized that the lavender and olive oils produced here have won gold medals in international competitions, and the income generated is transferred to the scholarship fund.
Stating that the lavender fields have also become a cultural meeting point with the Lavender Harvest Festival, Uzman said,
“Goodness spreads in waves through cultural activities. We share nature with our students and learn together.”
New Cosmetic Brand Efilyun Launched
Expressing that EGET has also attracted attention in the European arena, Uzman stated that they aim to increase environmental awareness among young people with the HEEFTA Project, which was selected from among 631 projects. He also announced that the new brand Efilyun, developed within the foundation's economic enterprise, is preparing to launch hotel cosmetic products containing lemongrass.
“We did what it means to be human”
Recalling that one of the founders, Safaî Özer, left all his inheritance to the foundation, Uzman summarized the foundation's philosophy with the words,
“We didn't want to keep our name alive; we did what it means to be human.”
