(MUĞLA) - The EGET Foundation announced on its 10th anniversary that it has provided scholarships to 245 university students to date and conducts a transparent and impartial evaluation process with its self-developed digital system. In addition to scholarships, the foundation continues its activities with ecological farming, social entrepreneurship projects, and international collaborations.
The EGET Foundation met with members of the press at a hotel in Menteşe district of Muğla to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The program was attended by the Foundation's Chairman of the Board, Özlem Uzman, and board members.
Speaking at the meeting, Uzman stated that the foundation was established in 2015 and has provided scholarships to 245 students to date. Uzman emphasized that the foundation does not only offer scholarship support, stating, “Our aim is to support students facing financial difficulties while also contributing to the cultural and scientific development of society. We also conduct studies in areas such as ecotourism, food security, and healthy aging.”
Scholarship Process
Uzun noted that thanks to the BUSED system developed by EGET in 2016, 39,960 applications have been evaluated, and they have created a transparent selection mechanism through a multi-stage evaluation process and online interviews. Özlem Uzman stated that students are involved in the system through volunteer work after receiving the scholarship and repayment conditions after graduation, thus ensuring a sense of belonging and the sustainability of the scholarships.
Uzun noted that EGET operates with a social entrepreneurship model, and their first economic step was taken with the Armutçuk Organic Farming Enterprise. Özlem Uzman stated that they established Turkey's largest private truffle plantation on an area of 22,000 square meters and created the first lavender field in the region with lavender planting, adding, "We are proud to inspire farmers, cooperatives, and local governments. No matter how difficult the conditions, we will continue to work with dedication and faith, without compromising our principles. The EGET Foundation will continue to set an example with its work in the fields of students, contributions to ecological balance, pioneering practices in organic farming, gerontology projects, and healthy lifestyle tourism.
